Father Mann’s Journey to Embracing a Vegan Vision of Christianity

Father Frank Mann’s own journey has been inspired by visionaries such as Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton, who have shown compassion and moral leadership in the face of injustice. He recently had a deep personal awakening to the plight of animals, and has since incorporated vegan and animal rights advocacy into his spiritual life and vision of a more just and peaceful world.

  1. This is absolutely, totally wonderful! I wish more members of the clergy would have such an epiphany, especially since religion is used to justify our “dominion” and abuse of the rest of Creation. I hope Father Mann continues to speak out and act on his convictions. I also hope he doesn’t get into trouble with his congregation and the Church for going against the dogma.

  2. I sent the web address to Mercy for Animals, in case they didn’t see the video. It was their billboard that really impacted Dr. Mann’s life.

  3. I love this video and was very moved by Father Mann’s telling of his story. He would be such a wonder speaker on behalf of the animals. What a kind man. I would attend his Church if I lived near enough to attend. Thank you.

  4. Seems to me as a Christian that Jesus was put to death for a crime against Rome, his anger and violence in the Temple. He was angry over the slaughter of animals and it cost him his life. “Thou shalt not kill” could have moved him so much. In any case all life IS precious. Where do we draw the line? Is it OK to kill a bug, a mouse, or deer? Who draws the line? I say we need to set the bar at zero. Once we all realize the importance of all life all life will be safe.
