Just the other day, a young female turkey was found hiding away in the corner of a free range farm shed in Petaluma, California. She managed to evade her captors on the day the transport truck came to haul away the other turkeys to be slaughtered for Thanksgiving. Apparently some worker found her hiding away, felt moved by her valiant effort, and contacted Animal Place, a local sanctuary. This 4-minute video documents her amazing story, her will to live and her rescue.
Something to be thankful for. Life itself.
Approximately 45 million turkeys will be killed for Thanksgiving day this year. Turkeys are exempt from even the most basic Federal anti-cruelty laws.

I watched this with tears running down my cheeks. I just don’t understand how people can pretend to love animals, get all noble about wanting to help animals but will have them killed so they can eat them! In some respects, it just disgusts me…
before Keegan first took that beautiful bird in his arms i was already in tears. i will never be able to understand how there can be so much cruelty and hate toward so many wonderful, innocent, perfect creatures. im proud to be vegan. i will never put my morals on the back burner for anyone. bless all of you guys for the incredible work you are doing. and bless you, Laura Beth for your incredible bravery and for bringing this torture to light. i know they (the animals) would thank you if they could.
to each and everyone of you who have spent your last moments in utter terror and incredible, heartbreaking agony…i’m sorry for everything :’( …rest in peace sweet angels <3 <3 <3
