About The Rescue
Early this month, an animal control officer spotted a duckling couple who had been abandoned in a retaining pond in a suburb of Chicago. She knew that they were a domestic Pekin breed rather than a wild breed and therefore must be rescued. She then contacted Free from Harm and we went to work immediately on finding a forever home for them. Then Heather from Wild Earth Sanctuary in Kentucky agreed to adopt them and introduce them to her other rescued ducks. And then our friend Gil offered to drive them down to the sanctuary at the end of the month. Everything is falling in place beautifully!

In the meantime, Wild Earth needs to expand their housing and fencing to accommodate these new arrivals, and we could really use your help covering all of the costs associated with their rescue and life long care. Your support will also help Free from Harm promote these ambassadors for farm animals through video, images, blog posts and social media to tap into the hearts and minds of millions of people online.
Please give what you can today! We are at 74% of our goal. You can help us reach 100% for John and Grace.
Where do ducks like John and Grace come from?
Some 24.5 million ducks just like John and Grace, who have been genetically and artificially bred for rapid growth, are born into this world destined for slaughter at only 7 to 8 weeks old, mere infants in their natural lifespan of 6 to 8 years.
